Does anyone know if there is a way to start collecting static data with an R10 receiver without using a data collector??ÿ If I remember right, I used to be able to start logging static data on a Topcon receiver by hitting the power button 3 times.?ÿ Is there a way to do something like this on an R10?

You can set the base to auto log on startup, I think you have to hook it up to the computer to set it up (GPS Configurator? it's been a few years). We did it when we first got the R10 and R12, so every base is always logging static and it stores the data internally. There is also an app for Android that I have seen used.

?ÿ

Edit: Found this?ÿ

Don't think GPS Configurator works with the R10. My understanding (perhaps not complete) is you need to use the Android app and they don't have one for the iphone. Otherwise it has to be done through the controller and set up in the survey style.?ÿ

Not that I am aware of, but before doing the static, do the factory default reset.?ÿ This will blow out the memory so you'll have all 4 gigs, almost.

Push power and hold.?ÿ COUNT to 15 should see a?ÿ ?ÿblink, keep holding, another 15 or 30 Seconds, will Blink and go dark, keep holding, then it will blink and then the light stays on.

Power down by removing battery, and

Replace battery, power up,

connect via Bluetooth or USB Lemo to connect to your DC, and set values from survey styles like Williwaw mentioned.

But no, no swift Coolio 3 presses for static function.?ÿ Topcon's lawyers must have clawed that away from Trimble. ?????ÿ

Alright, thanks guys.?ÿ We had found the configuration app and got that to work on an R8 but we were curious if maybe there was a simpler way to do it on an R10.?ÿ The 3-button push on the Topcon was pretty convenient, I'm a little surprised Trimble doesn't have something like that.

@bstrand?ÿ

I thought you could configure it to log data on start up by configuring a few settings in the web user interface via a direct wifi connection, but would have to dig into it to verify.

wifi connect to the R10 from a PC (laptop) or smartphone. Run a web browser. Connect to the r10 over the wifi via default IP address 192.168.142.1. Under data logging configure a session., then click the enable button.?ÿ

Trimble recommends changing the password so that some nefarious individual canƒ??t logon while you are away and steal your files.

Yes, you can start, stop, name points, etc. You have to connect to the receiver through its wifi and you can use any phone or laptop to trigger.?ÿ It is all explained in the user manual.?ÿ You can also modify the settings to your liking through the same interface.?ÿ

Trimble has that feature on older receivers, maybe it was 5700s that were the last to have it.?ÿ

I liked it, then it was gone on later receivers and when I asked why I was told because of complaints.?ÿ

Seems users were annoyed that storage would fill up with unwanted files.?ÿ

I didn't care anymore since that kind of work had vanished for me and it was time for bigger and better things. I don't see myself wanting that feature going forward but if you're doing large static campaigns with multiple receivers it's really a nice feature.?ÿ

I logged onto the R12i Wi-Fi, thatƒ??s pretty slick. You have to change the password in order to do anything. I was able to download files.

USB download is even slicker, put a USB flash drive in the adapter, pug into receiver, download light flashes fast, when starts flashing slow pull out adapter. It put the files in a folder on the flash drive.
