After doing some Internet research, I understand that I need Carlson X-Port to create an FCL. I wonder what kind of file an FCL is.

Hmm, been a while since I've used SurvCE/PC, but I thought it was possible to create a code list right on the data collector with basically every brand of equipment. It's usually a little more convenient to do it on a full size computer, but I think it would be a little weird if you had to have some other program to do it especially with gear as user friendly as Carlson.

Surely you guys are labeling your points some way already? Are you just manually typing some sort of code in every time you shoot a point?

I want to create an FCL (Feature Code List), but I don’t have access to any computer that has Carlson Survey IntelliCAD on it. We have several workstations in our office that do. After doing some Internet research, I understand that I need Carlson X-Port to create an FCL. I wonder what kind of file an FCL is. Is it a CSV file? If it is, I think it would be nice if I could create my own and load it into SurvPC 7.

You should be able to create an FCL in the data collector. Once created, I believe you can open it as a csv file (just change the extension), and see the format. I believe that is how we entered our codes when we started (csv then changed it to .fcl).
