Due to security risks, Department of Interior has all about shut down use of Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC).?ÿ WE have made a switch over on our Trimble GeoExplorer mapping handheld fleet to using SD cards and connecting to Windows 10 computers using trimble's USB Switcher app.?ÿ The problem with their cheatsheet has been ignoring that many of us have been connecting our Trimble's using WMDC, and must shake loose that connection, or you will never get the Trimble USB over to mass storage.
I think I have solved this, and want to share this to the group for all the help they have been giving to us over the years.
For the Surveying community using TSC3's, this works 100% of the time.?ÿ I'm going to modify this PDF to include, like the Geo7x, Juno series, the TSC3.
The trick, if you don't want to read the document is to Check the box "Advanced Network Functionality" on the TSC3 to shake loose the prior WMDC connection.Run the Switcher APP disconnected from the computer.?ÿ May have to run the app twice.?ÿ Once done, then its a simple task to create a new device in the Devices Direct Connection panel, pointing to the drive letter which is where the data resides.?ÿ Just another way to circumvent the increasing difficulty with WMDC on Windows 10 computers.

I finally gave up using WMDC with my Carlson Surveyor+.?ÿ I even tried the app that Juniper sells for $20; it worked a few times, then quit connecting.?ÿ Now I just use a thumb drive to move data back and forth.?ÿ It's a nuisance, but it works.
