Good morning and I apologize as this has probably been covered previously. When sharing a LOC file with a second crew setting their base up for the first time, the software asks if the base is locating from a known point or an unknown point. It sounds like we need to always use unknown point, let the GPS read at the base, and then apply the localization file. But then why does the software create a ref file? Or should we be using a known point and a reference file.

Trying to figure this out as we are doing the whole routine, but then send a second crew goes out to a project and they are "missing" points by an unacceptable margin. I really think the issues is when we are setting up the base and it appears from video's this is a common problem, but I am mainly seeing first time setup video's and not a second independent use of LOC file.

I would say it has to be known point - enter lat/lon and then punch in the original read from GPS position from the first set up (if you did read from GPS for the original position). Or use the original ref file. If you read from GPS again you will be off.

I would also say you have to set up on the same point - you don't say that's what the second crew is doing, but I assume they are.

Definitely call Carlson support, they are excellent and will be talk you through on this.

I'm honestly not sure what the point of the reference files SurvPC asks you to save when you set up a new base. From what I can tell, if you use them you don't have the opportunity to enter in a new rod height, so unless your using a fixed height setup on your base, you can't use the reference file from one day to the next.
