I have a project at a major league ballpark where the architect requires a 5 foot topo grid across the field for some winter events, the elevations will be on an assumed datum. The architect also requires that the plan & cad deliverables showing the elevations of the grid points be labeled in feet & inches, obviously I am going to have a boatload of topo points, I am running Carlson software and I am unable to find the command or routine if the is one that will import and label all these collected points in feet and inches into the drawing, I know that I can go to the "label Coordinates" routine in Carlson and perform this task one point at a time but is there a way to import the batch points all at once and label them correctly to feet & inches..????ÿ I believe civil3d will do this.?ÿ Is there another routine that will do this or another 3rd party lisp routine that will do this..??ÿ How would you do this..??ÿ any help is greatly appreciated.

It's in the Survey Text Defaults, under the Settings menu.

Which version of Carlson are you using?

In my Carlson Survey 2021 with IntelliCAD the "Label Coordinates/Elevation" dialog under the Annotate menu is a little different than that shown in the Help, but under "Input Method" it provides the options "Pick Point or Point Number" and "Points in Drawing".

If I select "Pick Point or Point Number" and click OK I am asked to "Pick point or point numbers:".?ÿ I can enter a point number range, say 101-200 and it will label all of those.

If I select "Points in Drawing" and click OK I am prompted to "Select points from screen, group, or point number"?ÿ When I choose screen I can select a set of points to be labeled by dragging a window or whatever.?ÿ When I select Group it opens a dialog from where I can select, well, a point group.?ÿ If I select Number it allows me to enter a point number range.

So if you have points in your drawing it should be a simple matter to quickly and easily label a bunch of them by one of several methods.

@glenn-borkenhagen That's the correct answer. I thought the op didn't know how to display the text in feet and inches.?ÿ nm

Sounds like a unique opportunity to set the concourse as the basis of the assumed datum, with an elevation of zero feet. Because, architects...

Is someone actually going to walk that grid and take shots manually? That's something like 5k+ points, roughly, depending on outfield size.

I've done runways for AGIS projects with the 10-foot CL spacing plus 10-foot offsets each side (ugh), but that was only because the airports were without an easy way to get sUAS, mobile or terrestrial scanning gear in there, and it was still only about half the number of shots.

Good luck, sounds like an interesting project!
