I have roughly 1400 grids to walk and I want to be able to see what grid I am in using the tsc 3 as I am walking through the project boundary.?ÿ

Is there a way to add labels in terrasync on the tsc 3 or is there a way to add labels with a shapefile and uploading into a tsc 3? I was told there isn't a way to add labels in a tsc 3 and would need to use different application if I wanted labels to appear as I walk the boundaries of my project site.?ÿ

any suggestions would be nice. thanks

Sorry - can't help with Terrasync

But if I was to be doing this in Trimble Access, I would be looking to use a DXF background rather than Shapefile. You would be able to label your grids and have the text displayed on the controller.

Would Terrasync handle that?

Or you could key-in and label the gridlines directly into your job

(While the TSC3 is now end-of-life, there is still one version of Access (from 2017) that it can run)

I’ve added labels to my TSC3 by exploding text into linework using the TXTEXP command in autocad. It only works with shx fonts like simplex and not ttf fonts like arial. Then export the grid and exploded text (which is now just lines or polylines) as a dxf. The dxf can load onto your dc and you can see it in your map view.

If you dont have access to autocad and Terrasync does not have a similar tool I've even just drawn some simple labels with polyline command. It don't look pretty but if your grid is just numbered and lettered it shouldn't take too long to draw some labels. That is unless you have 1400 grid lines 🙁
