Lou Mingolo, Mingolo Precision, Hackensack, NJ.

Lou's firm has been providing equipment, supplies and repair service to many a New Jersey and New York area surveyor, from stakes and nails to robotic total stations, and everything in between for many, many years.

Here is a link to an old article about the company, which is now in it's third generation of owners.

Although he had stepped away from the day to day operation, Lou could often be found sitting in the showroom, helping customers and helping with the paperwork. He will be missed.

Here is the notice from the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors, for any locals who want to know details.

The NJSPLS is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Louis Mingolo. Louis was born on June 26, 1932 and passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017. He and his company Mingolo Precision Products were longtime supporters of NJSPLS, and his smiling face and cheerful disposition was always there to greet you at their SurvCon exhibit booth for many years.

Louis was a resident of Wallington, New Jersey at the time of his passing.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea and was a parishioner of St. Mary's R.C.

Lou Sr. (as I was taught to call him) was a great guy.
I started going to the shop when they were out in the boonies. Sold me my first top mounted edm. I thought that edm was the best invention since fire and he was like a god for delivering me from the torments of the steel tape.
Imagine all the other surveyors he helped in 85 years.

I'm one of them, great people and service, pretty much use them exclusively.

I started going to Lou's shop, located in the most god-forsaken part of Hackensack, back in 1972. Always called him Lou, as I think his Dad was gone then and the son wasn't yet. The shop was hard to find and the road seemed to be paved with potholes and puddles. It was in an area that specialized in repairing radiators, transmissions and garbage trucks. We would go to pick up plumb bob points, the chief would get a new timely template, and once in a while we'd drop off the gun for adjusting. It seemed he could take the most wacked out transit and get it back in shape. Ahh, the good old days. Then he eventually moved to the big office in the civilized part of town. We bought our first EDM from Lou too. A long time ago. He'll be missed.

Sounds like a nice shop and real nice person. Being raised in that area (Passaic), I have a good profile of the man from the article and the testimonials posted here.

I have know Lou Sr. and his wife for over 30 years and his son for many also.
My lady's grandfather worked with Lou's father at K & E in Hoboken as well
Always a source of information he will be missed by many surveyors in the NY metro area.
RIP Lou.
