I just heard about it from my neighbors.
They saw it on TV. I was asleep napping all afternoon.
I just found a picture of the crash on foxnews.com.
Golly mercy!!!
From the one pic I saw it's a wonder no one else was killed as well.
For those who don't know: he's a 2-time Indy 500 winner.
He was only 33.
I came in from an errand 30±min after the crash and ran the DVR back, it was autotuned, not recording. The crash was equal to the worst I've seen. His car was among those that flew thru the air and unfortunately his struck above the wall with the unprotected top of the car against the wire barrier and burst into flames after landing. 15 cars involved on lap 13 and major damage to those 15 with half or more on fire. The announcer claimed that after hearing of his death that they would not show the footage again.
He was a nice chap. My sympathies go out to his family.
