NYSAPLS has lost another of our treasured colleagues......
Charlie became licensed to practice land surveying in 1959 and throughout his career was very dedicated to his profession. He was a charter member and president of the Eastern New York Society of Land Surveyors, president of the New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors (NYSAPLS), governor representing New York at the National Society of Professional Surveyors, and an area director representing four states and the Province of Ontario on the Board of Directors. Charlie was widely respected for his professionalism, wealth of knowledge, thoroughness and attention to detail. He received numerous professional awards including the NYSAPLS Award for Meritorious Service and Pillars Award for Lifetime Achievement. He was honored by the SUNY ESF Ranger School with the Philip J. Haddock Award. In 2011 NYSAPLS established the C. Hartnett Scholarship, which is given annually to a SUNY ESF Ranger School student. He also served as instructor, author and presenter on land surveying.
