Died today from pancreatic cancer.
Age 61.
First American woman in space.
Ride, Sally, ride... on to the Creator.
Your father awaits you.

We could send men to the Moon, probes to Mars and beyond, but we couldn't save one of our true heroines from cancer at 61.
I don't know what else to say except that we still have a lot of work to do, here and out there.

Before she died of cancer last February, aged 63, my wife used to say:
"Where you put your efforts is where you get your results."
