I spoke with a member of NC's Board and a violations administrator this past Friday.?ÿ NC has all eyes and ears on the drone issue.?ÿ In the Board's view, a PLS must be used to establish control even when there are no ties to boundary.?ÿ Not only that, a NC PLS will be in violation for using drone data that was provided by a unlicensed second party as only an employee of the PLS, or licensed firm, can be under the responsible charge of the PLS.?ÿ
On a side note, the new geiger-mode LiDAR is available for the eastern half of the state.?ÿ The resolution is an astounding thirty points per square meter.?ÿ I think the old stuff was around two points per square meter.?ÿ It has to converted from a .las file.?ÿ NC will download directly to a thumb drive if you need data for large areas.?ÿ https://sdd.nc.gov/sdd/DataDownload.aspx ?ÿ
