Hello all,

We have a small municipal client that would like to collect information (lat, long, elev) on their existing sanitary, water and storm sewer utilities. They would then provide that information to us to log into a GIS database.

Anyone know of a good submeter GPS system at a reasonable price. The municipal employees have very little knowledge on GPS systems, and thought the app on their phones would work because all GPS is the same, 😉 but I am trying to steer them in the right direction for what will be needed for mapping purposes.

As if now I haven't been able to convince them to have us collect all of the information with survey grade GPS with a knowledgeable surveyor behind the wheel.

Thanks,

I'd suggest a Trimble Geo but from what you're saying that's probably more than they'll spend.

If you have a good local dealer you might want to consider one of these:

I would suggest a Geo 6000 XH. If your needing a good reliable dealer I know of one. You can email if you'd like.

Take a look at the Leica Zeno 5 with Zeno software. They have a plug in that allows , for Easy IN - EASY OUT to ESRI, which is probably what they are going to use for Office software. Keep in mind that GIS is very modular. Most GIS Collectors can be sub meter, decimeter, subfoot or centimeter depending on what is added or subtracted.
