Show day at the fair. Youngest File will be showing her hog for show and market today. Up at 5 hog is washed, pen is cleaned and now I'm waiting outside the office where she works for her to shower and change and we'll head back to the barn for a mtg and 14 classes of showmanship and 13 classes of market. BRAXTON weighed in on monday at 246. About 10 lb under what we'd hoped, but things will be ok. 152 kids showing hog this year - about the same as last year lambs are the same but steers are down from 46 to 26@@. Ffa
Is a little off this year. Only about half the normal in species.
This is Youngest's last year and she's doing a great job. 🙂
I hope she did well.
Our fair is this week also, but all my kids are too old now. I always buy a hog at the market animal sale - nothin' tastier than a 4H/FFA hog project 🙂
Wow, your youngest weighs in at 246 pounds? :-O 😉
Best of luck to all the File's (and their critters) on show day.

thanks for the well wishes-
Things went pretty well- She was blue in Showmanship and Market Which are pretty good considering everything in the equation. Her hog is in a great place in the barn for buyers to notice it and that's a plus too.
Other pluses are -
I worked the ring all day for the show- 8:00 am to 5:30 pm (353 hogs presented in 29 classes) - it had rained Tuesday night so the air temp was only about 75 in the barn at the highest and the animals were pretty easily managed. Which means I was only bitten 2X and stepped on 3X. :-/
I had an opportunity to meet a lot of cool young people who are coming through the 4H/ FFA program and that's encouraging.
