My copy finally arrived today.
Dan,
Is it for sale anywhere?
Have a great week! B-)
He must have a strange distribution system. I got mine at least a month ago.
Have you had a chance to watch it yet? I thought parts of it were a little strange but the ending was very powerful (if you interpret it the same way I did, of course).
I got mine today, too.
It was fun, but I had trouble making sense of it. I got off to a bad start watching him plunk his solar compass on the tripod, hang a plumb bob over that rickety section corner post (why bother?), and then watch the compass wobble around as he sighted it.
What happened to his crew? Killed by the Comanche raiding party that took his horse? Why was he still trying to do any surveying sans crew?
Don't know if it is for sale or has even played anywhere I guess. Actually, I kind of forgot about it and was surprised to see it in the mail.
I put it in while I was working on writing easement descriptions and I guess I really didn't watch it closely enough. I need to watch it again with no distractions. It seemed kind of artsy and I was a little lost.
I agree that the opening with the compass over the section corner post was a little nerve wracking.
2011 OREGON FILM AWARDS ANNOUNCES WINNERS
Toward the bottom of page 5:
The 4th Place Short Screenplay was awarded to "Surveyor" written by Scott Blake. Using compasses, levels, and chains, Surveyors set out into hostile territory to certify claims. It was the most dangerous job in North America.
