Had an opportunity to shoot one of these yesterday. Weight was just right and shot excellent.
Looks really nice. I tried a Springfield Armory 1911 a few years back. At the same session at the range I was also shooting a Glock I really liked the solid feel of the 1911. I will admit to being biased as I carried an old Colt 1911 in the Army.
Have they fixed the problem with the hammer resting on the firing pin when down. Blowing you leg off if you have a round in the chamber isn't something you want to worry about. Yes I know about half cock but that really is a poor substitute for a hammer block.
Thanks for the look.

As designed the 1911 has 3 safety's (grip safety, thumb safety, and half cock) I dont think it was designed to be carried with round in chamber hammer down!
But to answer your questions yes Colt added a firing pin block it is referred to as a series 80 trigger IIRC. You would need to check with each maker to see if they decided to add the firing pin block.

Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock - that is the only way to carry old slab sides.
The series 80 is the scourge of 1911 purists (of which I am not).
That Remington looks like a nice pistol.
Excellent pistol, close to 1000 rounds through mine so far without a hitch. The only bad thing about it is after shooting it every other pistol feels like a piece of crap. My decision was between the R1 and a Rock Island 1911; sure glad I went with the Remington.

I agree! Very happy with mine.

I've got a bone stock Springfield GI that I sent back to their custom shop for work. They made that thing shoot like a dream. I also have a RIA Officers sized 1911 that has zero work done to it. That little sucker will shoot too. RIA makes a decent gun for the money but it is no Remmy.
The Remington 1911 is a good hand gun. It's a good value when compared to a Colt or a Kimber and shoots every bit as good.
I ended up with a ParaOrdnance LTC in stainless steel and really like it. Looks good. Shoots good.
The 1911 design is reliable and virtually fool proof. Very few problems and TONS of fun!
