Boise and Nevada just went into overtime!
Now they've just pooped in it too!
LPL Had A Good Nights Sleep And Woke Up Smiling
Went to bed after Oregon wrapped it up.
Nevada gave Boise State a gift with that interception on the first drive. When they held Boise to just a field goal, I was confident the Broncos were in for a long night, and I needed my beauty sleep.
The headlines say that "Nevada stunned the Broncos". Well if the Broncos are stunned it is because they have become too damn confident of winning every game in a "Gimme".
Welcome to the real world of football Boise State, if you don't play someone who can beat you every week, why play at all?
Our grandaughter spent the night so that her mom and dad could get an early start to the Penn State Michigan State football game. Either team can win it which makes it worthwhile watching. Besides being able to knock MSU out of the lead of the Big Ten, up for grabs is the "Land Grant Trophy". Penn State and Michigan State are the 2 oldest Land Grant Universities in the US. Penn State has a history of playing Michigan State that predates the Big Ten.
What bums me out is that Lehigh University (9-2, Patriot League champs) plays this afternoon against the University of Northern Iowa (7-4, Missouri Valley Champs) at the UNI-Dome and no TV broadcast. I have to listen on the radio or internet while watching PSU/MSU. Lehigh was to Iowa earlier this year and beat Drake. Lehigh's losses were to Villanova, the current Fottball Championship Subdivision champion, and New Hampshire. I like their chances today. Todays winner travels to #3 ranked Delaware next week.

Today They Play Some FOOTBALL!
Michigan 7-4 goes to #8 Ohio State 10-1, this is one of the big time rivalries and today is Michigan's whole season redeemed.
#10 Michigan State 10-1 comes to Penn State 7-4. Michigan State has never beaten a Paterno team in Paternoville.
Northwestern 7-4 goes to #7 Wisconsin 10-1. With local high school quarterback Dan Persa out of Northestern's lineup it looks like Wisconsin takes the Big Ten.
#13 Oklahoma 9-2 at #9 Oklahoma State 10-1, OSU can take the Big 12 South and get a rematch with Nebraska.
#5 LSU 10-1 at #12 Arkansas 9-2, this is for pride and a possible BCS bowl game.
I was glad to watch West Virginia knock Pitt out of the Big East Championship. I would just hate to see a 4 loss team take an automatiic BCS bowl bid from the many many better 1 or 2 loss teams.
Which brings up the ACC, whoops I need Pepto Bismol.

I heard a really interesting stat yesterday concerning these two. Since the end of WW2, against each other the record is even 31-31 and three ties. Coincidentally they have each scored the same amount of points in that timeframe.
You Have To Play The Whole Game, MSU 28-22 PSU
Penn State gave it a good shot in the late second half. Penn State was hurt most by the number of penalties. Probably more than in any 5 games they had this year. They did not quit on the field and Michigan State gave them too many extra chances. MSU dropped at least 6 probable interceptions and the one that was caught in the end zone was crazy. The Spartan player should have dropped to a knee and the game would have been over. Instead he ran it out and fumbled it giving PSU another chance for that last touchdown. Michigan State was the better team all day, but ask Boise State, sometimes that just is not enough.
All I can say it was a game worth watching and the ham and bean soup was excellent.

Anyway, Lehigh Beat Northern Iowa 14-7
What is nice is seeing that score posted on the NCAA Board right after the Kansas-Mossouri score.
Next week at Delaware.

If Lehigh can advance in the playoffs, they may have to eventually play the Eastern Washington Eagles (currently ranked FCS #1) a team which plays their home games on (gasp!) red field turf. You think blue turf is bad, that red field makes your eyeballs bleed.
If They Advance That Far It Would Be A Neutral Field
Biege, maybe.
Since they next play Delaware ranked #3, if they win there it would be #2 next and finally then #1. That might be overreaching, let's concentrate on the next game.

Good luck to Lehigh, and EWU
If it comes to it, may they meet on a neutral (green) playing field.
Look out for EWU running back Taiwan Jones. Big Sky Conference player of the year. He will play next year on Sundays for somebody.
