Anyone watch this?
I find it intensely fascinating - the forensics and science.
But...
a few years ago I saw an episode involving dismembered body being recovered. I was paying attention to my programming work with the TV on in the background but when I heard Sullivan, IL and Lake Shelbyville, I stopped what I was doing.
I know and/or have swum/swam in all those place where they recovered the "parts".
They interviewed the county "cororner" (I lived there for years and never knew we had one). Turns out being a long time family friend - the "coroner" that is. I had long since moved away but got may attention. I called Dad and asked him about. He knew all about what I was talking but didn't know they made an episode about it.

Turned out being a girl killed in Decatur (not 30 miles away where we used to live when I was a wee kid) and dumped in our local lake (BIG lake). They got the guy thanks to for some forensics by our family friend.

Weird enough all on its own.
Fast forward to last night. I'm watching on hulu.com some past episodes of "Forensic Files" and they mention Franklin, IN. Holy crap!! Really?! Brother Ott is there these days and we lived there for a couple years (circa early 70). They had interviews with the coroner and pathologist on that deal. That was my step-dad's job when we lived there!!!! HOW FREAKIN FREAKED OUT THAT MAKES ME! I didn't recognize any names and they didn't show much around town. For that matter, you could probably drop me off there and I wouldnt' know it all.

step-dad would [on rare occasion] take me on a job now and then back then... called to a bad scene and an autopsy or two. Accident/murder scene I had to stay in the car. Autopsy(ies) was(were) a different thing. [can't do that these days to have a non-participant in the autopsy as I understand]. I won't go into details but to say "good GOD you don't ever want to see that".

Lest I digress.. it just weirded me out about murder stuff in two little towns I've lived.

Oh... another bizarre I may tell another time about high-school friend (actually, younger brother of a friend) who rode around with me a time or two that turned out being a serial rapist in nursing homes. [that's for another story I'd soon forget]

Thanks for the ear to bend folks.
E.
