Two doctors. One on each knee.
I didn't think it was supposed to happen until the 6th.
[step] Mom just called saying he's doing fine and has already been up on his feet under his own weight. They did the deed on 2nd.
Maybe it's a good thing I got the days mixed up else I wouldn't have slept at all.

Glad to hear he's doing well. He must be a pretty tough guy.

My FIL got a new hip. All I hear about these is that it is better than the old worn out ones.

My Sister had both knee's replaced at the same time. My Mother had both knee's replaced at different times. My right knee kept me from joining the Navy when I was 18. I am guessing I will be next.

POSSIBLE alternative to knee replacement

I would STRONGLY suggest that anyone looking to have such invasive surgery do research on prolotherapy. My daughter experienced a repetitive injury to her back, shoulder, neck due to a gymnastic trick she was trying to master (rolling on balance beam on her neck and back without using her hands). That was 4 years ago. After seeing EVERY specialist, both traditional and alternative -- she was taking 12 to 16 Acetaminophen or 8 to 10 Ibuprofen a day. NOT GOOD for a 15 to 19 year old!!! Her massage therapist suggested that we look into prolotherapy since he had done all he could do to help.

It has been a long couple of months and insurance does not cover the treatment (may cover the office visit). Expect to pay about $150 to $500 a treatment and it may take 8 to 10 treatments, but my daughter is now 80-85% pain free!!! Don't waste your time or money on glucose injections. Have blood drawn, spun down and injected to the site of the injury. My daughter can assure you it is VERY painful but since it was her own blood, there was almost no side effects. Just sore and tired for a day or two.

They will NEVER do the necessary studies to confirm the value of prolotherapy since there is not enough money in it or there is nothing to patent. This is NOT snake oil since it is your own body healing itself.

DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH BEFORE YOU GO UNDER THE KNIFE!!!

I would add that great for those who have had successful surgeries, but I have had about 8 people I was close to have replacement surgery that has been bad or worse. One in a wheelchair. 2 dead. The others worse than before the surgery. It is a serious business that should be taken seriously. In virtually all the cases mentioned above. Weight problems probably led to the surgeries, and weight problems probably contributed to their non-recovery/improvements.
