Hard to believe the earthquake hasn't been a discussion item yet.
Are all the California guys so accustomed to earthquakes that it's just another routine day?

6.0 Richter (I edited that down from 6.1, which I thought I saw earlier in the day) is never a routine day. That said, unless you're located in the damage zone or volunteer for an EMS service of some kind (e.g. CERT), the best thing you can do is stay out the area and let the rescue and cleanup folks do their jobs.
I'm located about 36 miles from the epicenter in an area of very deep soils, and we rarely feel any of the many smaller quakes that regularly hit the greater Bay Area. But this one woke me up at 3:21 a.m. because it was shaking the bed in a slow rolling motion that lasted about 30 seconds. Had the energy been delivered in a fast shock wave I think we would have seen some damage here, but as it was all it did was rattle loose things and make the ceiling fans sway to and fro.
I was driving on the freeway when the 1989 Loma Prieta quake hit, so was utterly unaware of it until I stopped at the neighborhood grocery store on the way home. Everyone was glued to a TV set, and said that they'd felt a very strong shake. I guess rubber tires and the relatively high-speed forward motion of my truck masked whatever ground movement was going on at the time.
