The day after I posted my snake encounter, I saw this grey fox as I was walking into my bank in an urban area.
It was hanging out in an alcove where the stairwell door exits just to the right of the main entrance. It would lie down for a few seconds then get up and pace and sniff around the alcove then lie down again. It seemed confused or maybe sick, definitely not normal to see one in the daytime and certainly not hanging out at the front of a very busy building. I mentioned it to the manager and let her know that she should probably call animal control before someone got too close to it or tried to feed it. I waited outside for animal control while watching the fox and keeping folks away from it.
I got this video by reaching around the corner and leaning my phone against the wall while it appeared to be sleeping. This is the last few minutes before animal control showed up culminating in the noose appearing in the last few frames.
