My name is Rich and I have worked in CT, SC/GA, Upstate NY, SC again.?ÿ Started in USMC IN 1983 (Artillery Surveying), 1986 private sector starting in CT.

I have questions about older systems compatibility.?ÿ I have recently acquired a Wild/Heerbrugg TC1000.?ÿ A long time ago, I think late 1987 or early 1988, I tested this instrument along with 2 others when, at the time, the company I worked for wanted to purchase our first Total Station.?ÿ This was my first "love" when it came to survey instruments.?ÿ

My first question is:?ÿ I want to get a used TDS Ranger to use with this Gun.?ÿ Are they compatible??ÿ If so, do I have to go back as far as the N687 or can I get one that uses both a Serial Port (for Data Collection) and USB for Computer Connectivity??ÿ Like a Trimble TSC2?

Welcome from the southern hemisphere. The tricky bit might be getting a serial cable to the instrument. If you have one another option is to put a bluetooth serial module on the cable and BT to the DC. USB PC to BC is complicated with Win10 as it does not have WMDC (although there are posts on this forum on how to fix that). We have a few Win7 PC's so we can USB connect, otherwise it is BT to a Win10 laptop.
