seeing notifications such as replies to your posts

I suspect this may have been discussed, but I didn't find it (or maybe it's my problem).?ÿ I'm using Google as my whateveritscalled.?ÿ Anyway, I don't see notifications such as "so and so replied to your post" or if someone used @Tom Adams, I don't see that. unless I look back in the thread.?ÿ Is that the way it is, or is that just my particular Operating system, and internet engine?
