I am still trying to learn the site... I want to search for threads that contain a certain subject that is talked about very regulary. I don't want to make a post when there is a ton of information out there already.
Is there any other way to search threads besides the search box in the upper right hand corner? When i use it i get tons of pages and multiple finds from the same thread. Pointers please! TIA!
Go to the bottom right and under "information", click on that search engine. That might be a little better. You can at least isolate out the categories. I can't give you much advice beyond that.
This note is at the bottom of the page:

You can also use Google with all their search options:
keyword1 keyword2 "required phrase" -notthisword site:surveyorconnect.com
and if you get too many hits, use the date range feature under "more search options"
