I'm looking at picking up a used FC2600 with Magnet installed and was wondering what all is needed to utilize the NYSNET network?
I haven't been able to find much information on it if you needed a different module to do this, or if you can simply piggy back to your cell phone for connecting to the network. I just got the green light from "management" to purchase a used Topcon GR3 system and would like to use the NYSNET network if possible.
Also; if there is a better option than the FC2600 I'd be willing to entertain those options as well.
The Magnet Field license that is on the FC-2600 needs to be registered in your company's name so you can update the software if you desire.?ÿ The software license is separate from the hardware, sort of like Carlson field software is not tied to the hardware it is on, but is a separate license that can be transferred to another device with certain limitations and caveats.
Magnet is about the only software that can be run on the FC-2600, the operating system being Windows CE 6.?ÿ About the only other things I know of with CE 6 on them are the Topcon total stations that run Magnet on board.
The display is small but it is one of the most viewable displays I have seen on a handheld computer.?ÿ Topcon has pretty much abandoned that product, having gone to the Juniper Systems Allegro for a keyboard field computer.?ÿ Two Technologies, the manufacturer of the FC-2600 still repairs them.
There are probably better options but if the price is right and the Bluetooth is working, may be a viable unit for you.
Suggest you go with a Windows 10 Tablet?ÿPC and internal cell modem installed, for use with a network rover.
The Tablets are actually much cheaper,?ÿmuch faster than the older controllers such as the FC2600 and Tesla.
Which tablet do you recommend?
FC5000 or Panasonic FZ-M1
