The topcon guys are trying to get me to upgrade from fc5000 to fc 6000. So im trying to do my own due diligence on if its worth it. They obviously say it is, but i needs some imput from real ppl using it. We use out fc5000 with a hyper v setup. Thanks guy

I would say no. I haven't used it, but the specs are similar to my Panasonic fz-m1 toughpad, so it should already be like 10 times faster than something like an Allegro 2 or Carlson surveyor 2.?ÿ

Unless you want to switch to the android version to avoid issues with Windows updates but then you may be paying for a different version of software (in our case Fieldgenius for Android isn't even yet ready.

I have used all of them.?ÿ The 6000 is the most stable and works best in rain. But?ÿ not light years ahead,, not enough to upgrade.

I've seen a few people using beat up looking FC5000 (or the Sokkia equivalent) in public and asked how they liked them. One person said it was great and worked fine in the rain, didn't even need water mode.?ÿ The extra button's to use as hot keys would be handy. My Panasonic has 2 and Fieldgenius was definitely designed around having a full keyboard and using hot keys. Magnet field was designed to work with a touchscreen. Too bad it's only compatible with slow and unreliable hardware.?ÿ

Make them let you test out the new one on a rainy day and see if they can show you what is better about it vs what you have.

Sokkia demoed the iX robot to some of our guys (I missed it) but they only ran it with Magnet and sold it to us with Fieldgenius which barely functioned on it. Always test things the way they will be used.?ÿ
