Curious if anyone has any ideas why our Trimble R8 Model 3 would be having a challenge grabbing only 8 satellites when my almanac shows up to 14 available.?ÿ Someone suggested perhaps there being too many T02 files stored in the base??ÿ I'm not convinced that would cause any issues with how many satellites we are picking up, but I've been wrong before!

?ÿ

Thanks!

That number of satellites suggests to me that you are getting GPS only - no GLONASS. Is it possible that you have shut off the GLONASS, etc in your dc software? Because that can be done.?ÿ

I agree. I think you need to go into your survey styles and make sure you have all your correct settings checked "on"

The GPS only setting makes the most sense, also it's possible that individual satellites are turned off or that your elevation mask is set too high.

Are you running this as base & rover??ÿ It is also possible that you have a base in a bad spot.?ÿ The rover will only only show the number of usable satellites for either the base or the rover, so if the base is only seeing 8 sats, you will only see 8 at the rover.?ÿ?ÿ

The other thing that comes to mind is that the communication protocol may have been switched to an older GPS only version.?ÿ I think that if it isn't CMRplus, CMRx or RTCM2+ the radio will only broadcast the GPS data to rover & not the GLONASS data.

Thanks all for your input.?ÿ Turns out all the settings were correct and it was just a firmware update that it needed.?ÿ Also turns out that to hook the 7 pin Trimble DCA 0607 cord to the computer requires a 9 pin to usb adapter.?ÿ A used DCA cable cost me $110 plus the $20 adapter I got at Best Buy; fun times, but now all is well and runnning properly.?ÿ Thanks so much!
