Bad fixes are definitely a thing. It's why I always lose my fix and get another one. I don't know what the real numbers are but if your chances of a bad fix are 1 in 50, if you are able to get a second lock and it's close to the first shot...your odds of it being bad should be much much lower, but still definitely possible. If you can't get a fix a second time that could mean the first fix is much more likely to be bad. Years ago I saw my crew chief and I get a shot that ended up something like 40 meters away from where it really was.?ÿ

Would you like it if you could automate this portion of the work?

@nate-the-surveyor?ÿ

Yes that would definitely help. The last time I was shooting a bar in canopy I almost felt like that's what Fieldgenius was doing. I always complain about this software because it's a crash fest and full of bugs, but the way it handled the shots seemed like that's kind of what it was doing. I had a fix on and off for way more than the 20 second shot time it was set for but it wouldn't let me store it until like 6 minutes later each time. Multiple different fixes and 4mm between the shots. I still wasn't confident in the shot but apparently it fit well enough the office was okay with laying out the house with the bars we had already and the house had several meters extra room from the minimum setbacks. So I never got to find out how good the shot really was.?ÿ

I have a hard time believing the modern GPS aren't at all doing this to some extent. Do you know for a fact that they don't? The way you come across like you're trying to sell us all on this one brand or convince us it's the best is definitely not helping you to get your point across.?ÿ

Do you still get wrong init on those shots, or do you come re shoot them? How do you know your shot is good?

What's your typical bad shot/good shot ratio, in those places? How do you know that your data is good?

We are in the information business. How do you QC those shots? (Quality Control)

One bad shot can give you a serious problem.?ÿ

Well now, so you at last got what we have been telling you all along!!! Lol

I have observed that the LS has never given me a bad init. Except when I cut it short in time. Usually when shooting a bldg Cor. And, I got in a hurry. Or was interrupted. It goes through a sequence that has not let me down. Sometimes Iƒ??ll just stay and collect extra shots. Trying to catch it giving a bad init.?ÿ
I like that.?ÿ
