Hi All,
I Have a 2014 Leica CS15 3.5G (with GS12).
In the settings (about leica viva) it states WLAN: No, CS 3.5G Modem: yes.
In the Battery combartment, It says it contains 802.11b/g wireless LAN module.
I would like to connect this CS15 to a netgear nighthawk via wifi instead of CS15 modem as 3G is going to be shut down in Australia in 2024.
I have Viva version 5.60 on the CS15.
How do turn on the WLAN to connect to Nighthawk. All information I can only find seems to show how to connect to WLAN if already shown as yes in WLAN screen. Do I need to update viva to version 5.70?
Thanks.
It sounds like you have WLAN on the CS15, but it is currently disabled. If I remember correctly you go into Start>Settings>Control Panel and then select the Network and Dial up Connections. If you click and hold on the WLAN icon you should get a menu that allows you to enable it.
Thanks J5.
Is that when you minimise Leica Viva & enter through Windows CE?

To enable WLAN on your Leica CS15 3.5G, you may need to update the Viva software to version 5.70. This update may provide the necessary functionality to turn on the WLAN and connect to your Netgear Nighthawk via WiFi.
Here are the steps you can follow:
-
Check the Leica website for any available software updates specifically for the CS15 model. Download the latest version of Viva software compatible with your device.
-
Install the software update on your CS15 device according to the instructions provided by Leica.
-
Once the update is complete, go to the Settings menu on your CS15 and look for the WLAN option. If the update was successful, you should now see the WLAN option available.
-
Select the WLAN option and turn it on.
-
On your Netgear Nighthawk, ensure that the WiFi network is set up and broadcasting.
-
On the CS15, search for available WiFi networks and select your Netgear Nighthawk from the list.
-
Enter the WiFi network password when prompted to establish the connection.
By following these steps, you should be able to connect your Leica CS15 to your Netgear Nighthawk via WiFi. Please note that it's always a good idea to consult the device's user manual or reach out to Leica support for specific instructions related to your model and software version.
@pyke, that is correct. You would need to be in the WinCE OS, not the Viva software.
Thanks J5

Hello,
Leica CS controllers have no dedicated switch for WiFi in the system.
You need to got to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Networ & Dia up Connections
There you will find a few defined connections. You have to enable the one with name NXPWLAN. When you enable it, its indicator will show in the bottom right status field.
Double click on it there, switch to Wireless Information tab and there you can select your hotspot.
