So I just had this EOS Arrow 200 thrown in my lap and am expected to learn/use it.?ÿ Also may have an Arrow Gold on the way.
So the kit comes wit the unit and external antenna.?ÿ No data logger and no software.?ÿ I've been using Trimble gear for 25 years so this is all new to me.?ÿ They claim on their website that they have "made all Arrow GNSS receivers compatible with all mobile devices (e.g., iOS??, Android, Windows) and any third-party data collection app, including popular Esri ArcGIS apps and partner apps."
Having said that, does anyone know of an app or software that I can collect and or process data with??ÿ ?ÿ
Thanks in advance.
You 'may' be able to get it to work with Access if you set the Antenna type as 'Unknown External'
It 'might' work with other Trimble products using Mobile manager
I downloaded the App for my android phone ... not impressed. Clearly I need to download a manual (which I didnt receive) and read it.
Why would the higher ups simply toss something like that in your lap and expect you to figure it out? I would never do that to my crews without spending the time and money for them to be trained and I certainly wouldn't buy anything without the needed accessories and software.
Oh boy you will figure it out. Its been marched into your dna. I have a crew chief who just got his drone license for faa. So we were sent a drone. Thats it just the drone. So next week guess i am i. The same boat trying to figure out what else i need to get so we can make money with it. Good luck my friend.
@chris-bouffard wish i could work for you. But thats a long commute lol. Nothing beats working for someone who truly understands that proper training up front is the best investment which has usually more often than not a great ROI. Some think its a cost not worth it.
@olemanriver The ROI is completely negated with the loss of billable time and uncertainty in results. It's like opening the door to Pandoras Box. Very bad business decision.
@chris-bouffard I work on a military base for the federal government. This piece of equipment has been sitting around for a couple of years up at HQ and they just now figured to give it to the guy who "does surveying".
You cant make this stuff up.
You should reach out to the reseller who sold your org the Arrows. They exist to help you out. If you give me some details, I might be able to track down that info for you. I work for a related company.
The Eos Tools app isn't for data collection, it just interfaces between your phone and the device (like Trimble Mobile Manager does). Generally, most people use the Arrow with GIS data collection software like Esri Field Maps or QGIS's qfield. There's other apps too, like Mapit spatial, Avenza, FastXY.
They're solid GNSS units. But you need a decent RTK network (4 constellation) to really take advantage.
Carlson SurvPC, among other applications, has the ability to connect to “generic” GNSS receivers and accept a standard NMEA data stream. SurvPC will also connect to an NTRIP caster and feed the NTRIP to a generic GNSS receiver. I suspect the Arrow devices will stream NMEA and accept an NTRIP stream
With the right app and/or data collector, you should be able to use the Arrow as a RTN rover and get good RTK fixes under decent sky conditions.
You’ll probably want a good data collector. I use SurvPC on a Panasonic tablet to connect to similar (but not Arrow) devices.
If it’s worth all the fiddling or not is up to you.
