I couldn't find any post related to this, I see everybody here is using the traditional Leica/Novatel/Trimble receivers.
Has anybody tried the new lower cost dual band receivers? e.g. u-blox ZED-F9P ? It's supposed to be 10% of the price of the traditional receivers.

Some are... But you have to have a data collector to work with it. @Mark Silver sells some lower cost receivers. But, they work with Carlson data collectors. They apparently have Trimble boards, but aren't supported by Trimble data collectors.
Making a gps, that gets lat lon elev. Is not terribly hard. Making it work with well written stakeout, and plane coords. Projections, and a good cogo suite, is another story. Early Javad data collectors were pretty rough, I'm told. It's all improving... But it's still all got room, lots of room, for improvement.
A low cost receiver is one thing. Management of data is entirely another. Not to mention the part that catches bad init's in bad environments.
For now, stay GM, Ford, and Dodge.... And Javad!

You can load SurveCE on a TSC2 or TSC3.?ÿ Not using Trimble software but using the Windows powered device.
Actually what is your purpose for having GNSS receivers. If you need it to do RTK work, you would require one which can connect to a receiver which can receiver either by network or radio the corrections?ÿ
If you are just going to run static, are you going to send to OPUS (assuming you are in US) or do you have an established baseline and you can just import the RINEX (or propriety) files which can be read by your processing software. Receivers prices have gone down, but getting them to play nice with processing software is another problem. Getting from established brand (including china brands) enables you to work seamlessly between office and field.

I want three things from a piece of survey equipment:

2. Reliability
3. High quality tech support so that my guys can call someone from the field to work them through problems with bothering me.

I'll pay a premium for all, but especially #3.?ÿ (seriously, saving me a dozen billable hours a year over the lifespan of a piece of equipment is like writing me a $10K check)?ÿ Opportunity costs are too often overlooked?ÿ
