Just curious, what are the price differences if anyone knows?
Not that it really matters, it just seems that enough people are drawn to the Stonex and Hemisphere options that it must be a good amount?
the brx7 is $3000 higher than the S631?ÿ Carlson has a put block on using their SurvCE for nonCarlson sponsored units?ÿ ?ÿi know nothing about stonex sorry?ÿ
$3,000 per unit or per pair??ÿ That's a pretty substantial difference either way...
I'm about to sign for a set or StoneX S900A w/DC. I'll have to learn Survey Genius but it seems intuitive enough. I currently use the BRx7. They are incredible at quickly fixing in very difficult conditions. I had the same results trying out the S600A. They are all three the same GPS board with different dresses. I will get the full RTK setup with accessories and UT20 collector with FG for $15k.
Stonex often advertises its prices on its dealer websites.
?ÿ
ChidaPolaris.com and Measur.ca have Canadian prices.
@goodgps?ÿ It seems the user freindliless of the the entire line of economical units has become a nightmare in fixes and customer support. Which is why using my cheap unit is currently a hobby and not (yet) a daily user.
Carlson has a put block on using their SurvCE for nonCarlson sponsored units?ÿ
This is news to me, though 7 months after it was posted. Almost all my equipment is a non Carlson brand and it has all worked fine with SurvCE 5 through the latest version of SurvCE 6.?ÿ
@bushaxe?ÿ Just the new wave of low cost GNSS Rovers, Or at least that how I understood it. I tried to add one to my existing Surveyor2. I inferred that it was too much of a headache with getting the little things to work and the incessant whine of surveyors on the support line. And I can say that because I am one of them. The new wave of cheap GNSS is cheap for a reason.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Carlson would still sell the previous versions of SurvCE, so if something has been dropped from a later version, one can still buy a previous version that has it on. Case in point - electronic bubble for Trimble 5600 instruments was introduced in V5 but dropped in later versions.
I believe this is still the case.?ÿ We run SurvCE 5 for our 5600/S320 setups and SurvPC 6 for our BRX7/CR5+ setups.?ÿ Our dealer always asks us what version we want to buy so I infer from that it is still possible to get 5.?ÿ YMMV.
Any word on SurvCE going Android (and should I be trademarking the name "SurvAN")?
I just purchased the iGage (stonex) receivers and they are solid, 10k out the door. You load software to your phone and run. The hardware is well built, radio link always solid, but I am having issues with reliable fixes in woods. I am currently going through settings to make sure I have everything set up correctly. But point spreads in wood cover are 'fixed' but have point spreads 5-10 feet off. Still breaking out gun for peace of mind and accuracy.
I have asked Jim Reinbold (our Carlson dealer) that question many, many times. Maybe @ladd-nelson could chime in?
Hemisphere is the OEM manufacturer for both the Carlson BRx7 and Stonex S900A. All three use the Hemisphere Phantom 40 board. Carlson takes the Hemisphere units and rebrands them as their own, for instance: BRx6 = S321 and BRx5 = S320 and the BRx7 = S631. Hardware wise they are identical. After version 6, the Hemisphere equipment is software locked form being used in SurvCE and PC. The annoying thing is, they only did this for North America, anywhere else in the world they work just fine. (Hemisphere is not the only brand they did this to, pretty much anything less expensive then the BRx7 has had this happen to them, but only in North America).
Stonex no longer uses the Hemisphere boards, as they have are still under the Unistrong umbrella, where as Hemisphere is now partnered with Case New Holland. Let me know if you have more questions about the Hemisphere gear.
