The loss of a Beerlegger to cancer is certainly not pleasant news. Hopefully Pablo’s passing will encourage others to respect their health as they should.
I have never been prone colds, flu etc. and became complacent with my health. (I thought I was invincible to poor health.) Well one day I receive a postcard from Florida Hospital group advertising a free Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. Since I am cheap and hadn’t been to a Doctor in fifteen years I decided to go for it. Normal PSA readings range from 0 to 4, mine came back a 12. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the medium to advanced stage. After three bone scans (prostate cancer will spread to your bones and bladder very quickly) two chest x-rays, and 16 weeks of radiation therapy my PSA is normal. Great right? Not necessarily!
Along with a prostate gland that was radiated into oblivion come some side effects from the radiation process itself. The most noted effect concerns sexual performance. Most men will be able to achieve an orgasm, however there will no longer be any ejaculate associated with it.
A second unpleasant side effect is diarrhea caused by the radiation itself.
In any event take your prostate health seriously and make sure to include a colonoscopy in your health plans.
Have a great week, you too Pablo, wherever you may be. B-)
I agree. Now that I'm a few years on the back side of 60 I get checked regularly. My father had prostate cancer and caught it early so there were relatively few complications. I have my PSA checked yearly as well as the old "digital" exam.

Another bad side effect comes from heavy chemo.
My Mom became a near chronic sufferer of "Clostridium difficile colitis" (a.k.a. c-diff) from it.
The strongest [and most expensive] antibiotics had little to no effect.
If you want to loose a ton of weight, whether you have it to spare or not, super fast, just let that stuff get a hold of your intestinal flora.
The smallest amounts of food wouldn't stay down for long - it's coming out one end or the other REAL quick.
In a way, it's maybe a better thing that I didn't see her at the end.
Wow! After writing all that it occurs to me she died exactly 2 years ago tomorrow.
