The Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado are holding their conference next week AND the week after. It will be a hybrid conference with live presentations at the Denver West Marriott hotel (Wednesday, Feb. 23 through Saturday, Feb. 26) followed by a large number of virtual presentations being broadcast the following week (Monday, Feb. 28 through Friday, March 4)
John Stahl is the conference featured speaker and will present "Boundaries, Disputes and Discrepancies ?? Interplay of the Legal, Title, Real Estate, and Surveying Professions" on Wednesday and "Writing Land Boundary Descriptions" on Thursday.
I will be speaking Friday morning on a case history of the Sweet Home Mine property entitled, "A Survey of One Hundred Stones." While that sounds like click bait, I actually recovered and rehabilitated 100 GLO stones that were originally established between 1873 and 1938.
As unlikely as it may seem, both John and I began our conference presentations at the same conference. On Sept. 10, 2004 we both gave 8-hour presentations at the PLSC Southern Chapter Conference in Colorado Springs. Unsurprisingly, John's topics were "Resolving Discrepancies in Deeds" and "Resolving Boundary and Title Problems;" and my topics were "Basics of Mineral Surveys" and Advanced Topics in Mineral Survey Retracements." Eighteen years later, we are presenting very similar courses. At least that is my story and I'm sticking to it (unless John has a different recollection of the facts). 🙂
Anyone else planning to attend the live presentations at the Denver West Marriott next Wednesday through Friday? If so, I look forward to seeing you there.
