From the latest edition of Impact magazine:
Those were the days.
When my niece was working on her B.S.C.E. at Purdue in the '90's I suggested that she look into surveying summer camp. She is a real outdoor type, and I thought we might snag her for surveying. She applied and got accepted for a camp out west, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to forest fires, I think.
So that was that. She went on to graduate in Civil Engineering with honors. She worked as a civil engineer for a couple of years, but left feeling unfulfilled. She got a master's in statistics and that is her work today. She now lives in Denver and is out in the mountains every weekend.
I think camp would have done the job! She would have made a great surveyor.
