Where are the other 14 boards from? La LA land? 69 - 55= 14 unknown. do some states have multiple boards??ÿ scary.
@flga-2-2?ÿ
My first degree is in Biology, and I took and aced a graduate class in Mycology.?ÿ Morphegenisis of Fungi or something like that.
Still dont want to discuss basidomycetes versus ascomycetes on the FS.?ÿ So there. ?????ÿ
@learner?ÿ
My Best mentor (now dead) imbued me to know what you don't know, and embrace it so you can learn. I live my life by that mantra.
I don't know a lot.?ÿ I learn more of how much I dont know everyday.
Nope.
unless you're an architect or a designer engineer. No one cares when we're staking grid bolts or dipping manholes.
When your staking bolts and dipping manholes, you are working in the technician realm.?ÿ When you are sitting in a pre-construction meeting planning with the entire design team you are in the professional realm.?ÿ Seems like knowing a very bare minimum (what an industry wide acronym stands for) is not too far fetched for many folks who will be working in construction in a professional capacity.?ÿ So David having that question on the PPS exam is very reasonable.
@lurker?ÿ
Fair enough.?ÿ Im polishing my bundle at the moment, hopefully its enough for the test,
?ÿ
...and yes, I'll be studying as soon as I finish all these awesome funny, sardonic, sarcastic, enlightening, disheartening and uplifting posts.
Survey.?ÿ Its what people who aint normal aspire to and enjoy suffering with.?ÿ And the pay aint horrible neither. ??? ?????ÿ

69 member boards which license engineers, land surveyors, or both.?ÿ 55 of those license land surveyors
This thread reminds me of a conversation many years ago (circa 2006). When I first met this person at a conference, within the first five minutes the subject of the California State Specific PLS exam came up. She had failed it several times and was immediately very outspoken about how flawed the test was. After all, she was a member of Mensa, therefore it was obviously a flaw in the test and not her intelligence. She eventually passed, but I never forgot that about her.?ÿ
@jph?ÿ
Im ok with test development especially when its relevant material.
At some point it becomes like this:
?ÿ
?ÿ
?ÿ
ANd I will vanquish the bridge of death
Mad props mad props.
?ÿ
And I was encouraged to just take it too, by my recent Surveyor, just to get it over with and see what i really need to learn.?ÿ So im trying to approach it similarily, buts its not easy to just go with the flow....
how is it that you could even know what should be covered on the test??ÿ
Well, in a simple rebuttal: Because.
?ÿ
Depends on the topic and subjest matter.
For Survey neck down jobs, I'm minimally competent because i seem to be able to get jobs when i apply, even multiple offers.
In picking good places to work, i seem to pick places that value the neck down, which for me at this point is a slow and increasingly risky venture, as My past also shows I have the chops to do the intellectual part of the work and contribute too.
Ad hominem attacks about my competency, smacks of attitudes that differ from "the way it was for me/us" aren't valid.
Quite the contray.?ÿ If I see a dumpy level question ill likely laugh out loud for real because its irrelevant survey history.
Unless youre planning on using one to demonstrate that they did the best work posiible when they were using them, or just concede the simple fact that they DID do the work well, because as a standard, Most reasonable and competent surveyors give their best efforts, save the very few that don't.
?ÿ
Jeesh, lighten up buddy, who p!$$ed in your corn flakes today?
?ÿI promise i'll do just that.?ÿ Looking foward to it once i earn the ability to do so.
