Just a general gripe.?ÿ I know some on the board don't think CPD hours should be a thing and I know others believe that they should be required.?ÿ Some think online options are a great alternative to in-person and others believe in-person should be required.

Beyond the discussion of should we / should we not:

If required CPD hours are in place and one of the required courses is a mandatory course on standards/code of conduct/ethics which is offered online, it would probably not be wise to complete a four hour course and fill out an acknowledgement statement that you have completed the course in its entirety if you actually only clicked through the online pages in about 5 minutes without viewing any of the content on the page.?ÿ I don't know about all online courses, but there are some that actually have access reports showing what pages you accessed, when you accessed them, and for how long you were on them.

What if there's a test and you clicked through the online pages in 5 minutes and aced the test?

Tommy, the quoted section is my first and main problem with it.?ÿ It would mean someone has signed a statement that they knew was false - similar to an ethics violation that comes up all too frequently when people have renewed for years acknowledging they have their CPD hours and then are part of the random audit for CPD hours.

My second problem with it is the same problem I have with folks who think they can't learn anything by actually attending (being in the course, participating, and actively listening) a CPD course.?ÿ Skipping through indicates you think you already know everything about the topic and couldn't possibly learn something.

Side note - we're having an in-person fall seminar at Kentucky Dam Village in December if your interested in attending.
