Compulsory maths adds up to success, says top surveyor

Unfortunately it is never pointed out that math is the easiest part of surveying to learn, and the easiest part to to teach in college. It is quite difficult, as a result, to re-train young surveyors that not every problem presented to a professional surveyor is subject to a mathematical solution.
