Does anyone have experience using a graphing calculator (such as a TI 83) during the California Exam?
Prometric (testing center) seems relatively free with calculator use as long as it abides by the below rules. However, I am hesitant due to how restrictive the calculator policy was on the FS and PS exams.?ÿ
- The calculators allowed to be used for the Board??s state-specific examinations include any handheld calculator that does not meet the exceptions listed below.
- Having a QWERTY keypad
- Smartwatches
- Palmtop
- Laptop, handheld, or desktop computers
- Data collectors
- Personal data assistants (PDA)
- Organizers and tablet devices
- Calculators with other alphanumeric keypads are acceptable.
Why not contact Dallas Sweeney at BPELSG to ask? Not sure why a graphing calculator would be needed for the exam, however. It has been 35 years since I took it (pre-National exam) but was involved with exam grading and development up until 2012 when they switched to multiple choice.?ÿ
I wanted to use one since it is what I am most comfortable with and has the option to install HP33-like programs on it. That's good advice about Dallas though; ill reach out. Thank you!
