Matt, we do this kind of thing all the time – should work just fine. We regularly achieve 1,400′ with a 5dBi antenna on the SD1000 and about half that with the regular nub antenna (1dBi) to a class I BT device.
You’ll need to ensure the connection between the instrument and the Parani is correct and then that your 1100 is sending communications through the RS232 port using congruent parameters (baud). Then it is just a matter of pairing the Parani with your Tesla, which is a simple matter, and choosing the correct port within SurvCE.
