global thermonuclear chess?
man, I??m so glad my kids haven??t grown up under the constant implied looming threat of mutual assured destruction. Good god, the raft of early 80s movies on that topic was absolutely brutal.
I worked for a small survey firm in north austin that used those, mostly for admin stuff. Lots of musicians working day jobs on survey crews those days. Nights at austin outhouse.
lmao. Maybe this very one. I saw Chuck just last week, Ed??s wife recently died, and Ken recently retired as he??s battling cancer (probably what ultimately precipitated big H deciding to finally retire).
And my next door neighbor is one of those musicians. I worked for him for 5 years, now I??m trying to convince him to spend his last couple years before retirement working for me.
I??ll betcha it can play ??Hunt the Wumpus?. I??ll also bet no one remembers that! ????
If you find an ancient TS that still actually works I??ll buy it from you. I??m bored so I want to as-built all the landscape beds on the surface of my lot. I have a funny feeling that SWMBO is ??thinking of? redoing all existing landscaping. Probably cost 10-15K but I??ll recoup that by jacking the house sale price $50K and someone will buy it. Houses in my area sell within a week at most and for ridiculous prices so It??s time to bail out while the market is insane once again. I still don??t understand how a 2 income family that earns $200K gross can afford a 2.1M home. Somebody clue me in. ????

Oh now you’ve done it…you’ve woken the Wumpus!!!!
God I loved that game!!!

Hmmmm…. has your SWMBOAWD been talking to mine? I’ve been voluntold that we’re relandscaping the back yard to include retaining walls and inset raised bed gardens and expanding the flatwork. I asked what the budget was and was told it didn’t matter….I’m trying to figure out how much beer the scope creep is going to generate….

But where will you live then? Another state? I thought you liked FL.
. Had one of those, our first “total station” – 1980’s , after lugging a HP 3800 around it was a dream and if you don’t mind booking it probably useful today.

I??d never move out of FL. unless to the Caribbean BVI or USVI but decent housing/condo starts at $1M and that ain??t in the budget. So probably buy a smaller house somewhere in the FL woods (if there are any left). Our house is too large for the two of us. ????
That is very similar to my first CAD machine. c.1989

My first computer was a Kaypro II. I recollect it was called “Darth Vader’s Lunchbox”. I used it at home and in our trailer while surveying for the USFS in Central Oregon around 1984 or so.
In the mid 70’s my computations were done on a Monroe calculator. To do individual calculations it needed to be programmed with punch cards. The only adjustment program was the compass rule.

First, by selling the house they had and reinvesting the $1.35m in equity. Then paying 3% interest on the remainder.

I was more of a King’s Quest kinda guy
I was thinking the same thing, got so far as the GTS-3C, UGH
One of these days you’re going to open the broom closet, and there’s going to be a triple prism holder on a shelf that’s going to make the whole deal worthwhile. ????
@norman-oklahoma
Isn’t 3% a little below the prime lending rate ? Is this another effect of cheap money and starved investors ?
