I hope everyone has a great day; I know I will!Several years ago when transitioning to Civil3D there really was no support for stakeout for Land Surveyors. It was either use the un-intuitive transparent commands for point creation or try another work around. Richard’s SincPac software allowed us to streamline our processes and add another level of error checking for stakeout.
Richard understood our frustrations and used his talents to help everyone in the same tough spots. His help on the AutoDesk forums was very valuable in that he brought an informed Surveyor’s perspective to counter the engineer evangelist side of the discussions. His papers on the handling of grid vs ground coordinates in Civil 3D helped educate us beyond what I feel the software creators intended. He analyzed and documented features with no official documentation.
In this time of giving, I will remember what Richard gave to Land Surveyors and the online community and send my condolences to his family.
So sorry to hear this …
Rest In peace Richard!Christof.

I didn’t know the guy personally but it seems he was much liked and admired here.
For some this is an especially tough time of year anyhow. I can’t imagine adding this as well.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.
RIP, Sinc
Just in the few short months I’ve been coming to this board, Sinc’s willingness to help with our questions was obvious.
Last week I had a weird dwg-to-PDF printing problem; I googled a few key words and found an answer here If you scroll down to answer 8 of 10, you’ll see that Sinc figured out the solution – 3 years later, my problem was solved by Sinc!
The internet really makes this a small world, doesn’t it? Quite a guy. Such a sad loss.
edited to fix broken link
The one truly great thing in all this is, his legacy and contributions will live on as long as the Internet exists.
So often the typical drivel of someone like me whining about a bad day doesn’t bear scrutiny as contributing to anything but more of the same negativity, Richard instead spent his time on positive solutions fueled by his creativity.
The test of time will determine the worth of his words.
I’m betting on Richard to go the distance.
RIP. you will be missed.
NNot much I can add to all the above. R.I.P. and our thoughts are with Richard and his family.

I too, feel for his family and loved ones. There must have been another plan for him by powers beyond us. Godspeed Sinc, and thanks for sharing here to impact all of our lives on the “leg”. Write if heaven really means Acad Release 11.
Sad news indeed, he did however leave behind a good body of work.
