Huh? Diversity?

100% of the Players are women, where is the diversity?

69% of the players are African-American, where is the diversity?

16% of the players were white, where is the diversity?

1% of the players were Latino, illegal aliens please look to this job opportunity.

0% were Asian.

14% of the players were International, whatever that is?

Can you be an African-International?

Politics & Religion

Wendell has thoughtfully provided a category called "Politics/Religion" for those people who seemed bothered by the fact that the world isn't populated entirely by old white guys who agree with them about the natural superiority of old white guys.

Try it. I'll bet you'll like it.

Paul, they are talking about WNBA as an EMPLOYER.

You are talking about the players.

The players aren't the only employees, by any stretch.

Kent, There Is No Discussion About Old White Guys.

If you do not want to discuss the issue at hand, go ask Momma to change the TV channel for you.

BTW, your left/right discussion is very political.

I think that they are talking about executive and upper management and office administration etc and not players.
This has been the thrust of minority participation in major professional sports for sometime
NBA Hornets just hired a minority GM. I wonder how many there are in the NBA.
He replaced a white guy who really screwed up big time in the last few years.

"The WNBA received A's for race in the league office, head and assistant coaches, general managers, team senior administration and player opportunities."

Let me repeat that "player opportunities."

Now this really adds to diversity:

"no people of color considered majority WNBA owners, the report said."

So only Albino's are majority owners? Because even caucasians have shades of melanin.

Or to quote Toby Mac and George Cocchini:

We're coloured people, and they call us the human race
[Oh, coloured people]
We're coloured people, and we all gotta share this space
[Yeah we've got to come together somehow]
We're coloured people, and we live in a tainted world
[Red and yellow, black and white]
We're coloured people, every man, woman, boy, and girl

Maybe there is a corollary between this report of the same organization
It does seem disproportionate.
! would like to hear your thoughts.

Hey, who else would post your thread but ... an old white guy? It's like you're on that one 24/7. :>

Speaking of Old White Guys

I was wondering which of you two was older?

Just a question from a middle aged white guy. 😀

Paul is

> I was wondering which of you two was older?

I'd think that Paul is probably five years older than Archie Bunker was.

NCAA For Robert Hill

The corallary is that success is not just in playing basketball. I will note that my Lehigh Women's Basketball Team, mostly white with blonde hair, had a 100% graduation rate. They join 18 other quite commendable colleges at that success rate. There are schools on that list where winning basketball games is far more important than graduation.

If anyone wants to tout diversity that matters they should look at the college education success rate where it may possibly be that minorities are shortchanging themselves.

"Huh? Diversity?

And amazingly, the post seemed to go downhill from there...

Trolling Again?

100% of the Players are women....It's a WOMEN'S league....how many women are in the NBA, or NFL, or NHL or MLB?

69% of the players are African-American, where is the diversity? Well, 31 % is a sizable chunk, isn't it? Does diversity have to mean 50%-50%?

16% of the players were white, where is the diversity? See above.

1% of the players were Latino, illegal aliens please look to this job opportunity. What a stupid, racist comment. All illegals are not Latino, nor are all Latinos illegals.

0% were Asian. What's your point?

14% of the players were International, whatever that is? Why not look it up before commenting?

Keep trolling though, it's entertaining.

NCAA For Robert Hill

There are schools on that list where winning basketball games is far more important than graduation.

and that is a the nature of the beast as far as college and pro sports is concerned and "job security " for coaches.
If you don't win, your gone.
We see it time and time again.
If your beloved Joe Pa had a horrible losing season next year, do you think that he would be around the next year? Remember the Michigan and TN coaches that were shown the door.

We see the premier teams acquiring the best coaches that money can buy even though they may have a shady past in regards to recruiting and player management.
I don't think anything can alter that mindset. it would be un-American.

As far as your Lehigh team is concerned, I would speculate the men's team is primarily minority in nature as opposed to mostly white woman's team. They probably have some token minority coach also.
I say this because it is a NE school and the recruiting is probably facilitated by the wealth of talent in the area and the head coach wants to keep his job....or get a better one for mo' money.

To discuss , the socio-economic conditions of minority students would lead to a political debate .. so let's not go there.
But it is a reality like the nose on your face.

I was surprised at the grad rates in regards to the general population statistics. Student-athletes receive more help besides financial by tutoring and/or building an easier path to graduation than the general population.
