Where's the defense?

I was looking at the scores on CNN/Sports Illustrated, and one thing that caught my eye was the scores. Did anyone play defense this weekend? Just wondering if anyone had ever kept record of the highest scoring output by all teams on a single weekend. This one sure looks like it could be close to the top.

At the time of this post:

1 team (Navy) scored 76 points

5 teams who scored 60-69 points

9 teams who scored 50-59 points

13 teams who scored 40-49 points

22 teams who scored 30-39 points

28 teams who scored 20-29 points

21 teams who scored 10-19 points

6 teams who scored 0-9 points

So why are the defenses so weak?
