They closed the schools here and in some neughboring parishes today in anticipation of 'severe' and 'enhanced' thunderstorms that will approach our area this afternoon. I can't recall this ever being done before except for tropical storms or ice/snow storms.
I guess we might take some precautions and be prepared. Folks north of here in MS should be on the alert too..

Happens around here, usually in May. The weather people really do have it down pat, at least up here. They've gotten to where they can predict the severe weather down to the hour and county. And they're right.

Keep your phone charged, make sure you know where the flashlights are at, don't park under big trees and keep one eye peeled!

It can get pretty bad here in West Tennessee also. Our local news stations go into live, wall to wall weather coverage any time there are sever thunderstorm warnings or tornado warnings for any county in their designated viewing area.

Yard is saturated today.
Looks like springtime here, everything is in bud and plums are in bloom.
Tomorrow 45å± mph winds will blow this system to New York and bring in a hard frost by the end of the week.
A few weeks ago I was a mile south of the Sulphur River along the Texas - Arkansas boundary avoiding mosquito and buffalo gnats.

Robert, I saw they closed the Ponchartrain Causeway this afternoon. Also saw a big ol' nasty waterspout on tv that twirled up on the lake as the squalls passed. Just checking on you and hopin' you made it through with all your shingles intact. 😉

Hey PC,
Got kind of lucky here...seems that we were on the edge of lots of the nasty stuff. More of a rain event but nothing major. Never got the winds that were predicted for the day and never lost power or even a surge which is remarkable for our neighborhood.
That big water spout was close to my FIL house. I think that they enhanced the video to make it look larger for the national news. But saw another one from a camera in Dan McCabe's area that was very huge.
Most of the weather TV people were over caffeinated and we're losing it. Local NWS lost their radar by a lighting strike.
Most of the tracks of the nasty stuff was in unpopulated areas like lakes, swamps and timberland. I think one death has been reported in the whole state. Just luck for many.

No problem with the shingles here. Always have had the traditional metal roofs and put a new Vcrimp on the shack a few years ago.;-)
