For you HC..... ????
I prefer this kind of snake... 😉 ?ÿ
That rattler underestimated the cottonmouth and the film demonstrated how cottonmouths pursue whatever enters their path or disturbs them.
Cottonmouths are the only reason I do not miss cross-sectioning creeks and bayous in the Houston area. Never had a problem with copperheads or rattlers, and the coral snakes were super rare. Cottonmouths are the only snake I have seen actually go after someone for merely being in the same area.
Being a Westerner I've only seen rattlesnakes and they were shy and not a problem.?ÿ I've heard cottonmouths are much more aggressive but have no experience with them.?ÿ Main thing is wear high boots in snake country and don't shove your hands into rock/wood piles without busting it up with a shovel beforehand.?ÿ Almost no people die from snakebites in the US because of excellent primary care protocols.
I'm much more scared of mosquitos, chiggers and ticks.?ÿ They can give you diseases you wouldn't want on your worst enemy so I soak myself in DEET when operating in such country and am still alive. Hurrah for me!
I've been chased by cotton mouths?ÿThey stink.?ÿ
Ever since the garden of Eden, snakes have been on humans hit list.?ÿ

I have had a cottonmouth zoom right past my leg... I froze when he came out of the grass heading for the water..?ÿ Don't want to do that again.?ÿ I've also encountered a python curled up around a stump in the swamp.?ÿ ?ÿhe also headed the other way.?ÿ ?ÿI consider myself lucky in both situations.?ÿ?ÿ
A worker for our rural water district was bitten by a rattlesnake two or three summers ago.?ÿ He lived but he suffered for over a month.?ÿ The total bill for his medical attention was in excess of $300,000.?ÿ I saw the invoice.?ÿ Avoid venomous snakes, period, end of subject.
