I stopped for supper the other night and left my vehicle GPS on the dash, I usually unplug it and at least put in under the seat. When I came back out, it was gone, but my IPAD, laptop, three survey GPS units and a robot were still in the truck. I don't know if it was a snatch and grab or if someone scared them off. It might be time to add insurance back on them since the work load is picking back up. I had to cut the insurance during the hard times when the equipment was not being used much.
Same thing happened to me one night. I left the truck parked in front of my house and forgot the bring the equipment in. They took my dash GSP and Sirius Radio, but left everything else, robot included ... I even had a hand held GPS right next to the dash GPS, and they left that. I felt very very lucky to still have my robot, and lesson learned.
Be very, very careful and observant, for the next few weeks. Make sure not to leave the kids at home alone.
There was a rash of that happening not long ago, and what they were doing was getting the gps units, and then they were staking out the houses, and coming back and cleaning the people out.
It is not a good idea to save your home address in the GPS. I have a dummy address near my home for rough travel times when coming home from road trips.
Glad they did not get the survey gear.

If I do that I think I'll pick a neighbor I don't like and use their address!:-P
Dang man, I better check and make sure you don't have my address in there then!!!:-D

I've heard warnings about this, but I don't understand how having the home address of a vehicle owner is any advantage to a burglar, unless he goes directly to the house while the owner is still out and about.
Nevertheless, I programmed the Home button on my wife's Garmin with the address of the local police station.

Genius!!! Like in the Blues Brothers when they give their address as Wrigley Field!
