When walking away from this ship with my sea-bag on my shoulder and orders to the Helena CA 75 under my arm, I made a vow to myself that I honored all of my life. A vow I never should have made. That vow was to never make another friend, only allow for acquaintances that, I could turn my back on at any time and walk away from them, and never miss them. Remembered that vow a few years ago, I am finding a lifetime of keeping that vow very hard to break.

I was suprised to find this post today .
I was on line looking for info about my uncle and the Ammen.
My uncle Gary Earl Lindemann who was kill on the Ammen 50 years ago.
I know there are alot of crew members on a ship but was still hoping to find a
crew member who may have knew him needle in a hay stack I know .
Thank you for your service .

Gary:
That is indeed fortuitous since this is a relatively new site.
Jud is a stand-up No BS sometimes ornery kind of character (well he is a real surveyor after all) and maybe he can recall some connection to your uncle (namesake?) if not by him then some other ship mate.
Good luck.
Try reaching Judson through his email, in case he does not want to make this a public discussion.
