Have any of you traveled to either of these destinations and have any recommendations for VRBO or HomeAway? Thanks-

Back in 2008, we went to Palermo, Rome, Florence and Venice, traveling by train between the latter three.

We stayed in hotels in each city, so I can't help you with VRBO-type stuff, but if you need any advice about the cities themselves, let me know.

When we went to France, we stayed in someone's home for a week, but it was a friend's business partners house, so again, no help. But it gives the trip a much different feel.

However, I have since looked up VRBO situations in that area, and off-season rates were quite reasonable. I'd imagine Italy would be the same.

Godere viaggio!

Went to Rome a few months ago. Bring your hiking boots. Look for the robot / gps in a case at the Forum.

thanks all for the comments- we're planning Youngest File's Sr. trip. Italy was her choice. It should be a hoot.

I have a good friend that owns a bed and breakfast in Rome with her Italian husband. Not sure if that fits all those acronyms, but it looks nice.
