They left off my favorite dog name. I named my dog "Dammit". After a really bad day at the office it was just SO relaxing to go homew and call the dog. "C'mere Dammit!!" Lotta stress reliever right there.
I guess I'll have to settle for Elvis.

I like your philosophy, CPT!!! :good:
When my kids were young they named our dog "Gizmo". Always kind of liked that one.
My dogs name is "howie" but that is what he came with as a 2 year old rescue.

I was 17, just about to graduate high school in a few months. On a weekend before Martin Luther King day in 1994, my mother's Yorkshire terrier gave birth to 4 pups. I got the first pick, and chose one of the pups because she had a lighter, almost silver, chin than the others. I didn't know what to name her, but one day when her eyes were open and starting to learn the new world she came into, I noticed her scooting on her tail like dogs do when their poopshoot itches. From this observation, I decided to name her Scooter! She was a very good friend for 16 long years. She would follow me everywhere - as long as she could see me, she was content. I lost her on July 4th, 2010.
The name Scooter may not rhyme well in song or poetry, but I know it was a good name for my dog.
What a lovely story.;-) Sorry for your loss, though. I still have dreams every couple of weeks that involve Rex, my springer spaniel that's been dead for about 15 years. But my dreams also include my parents that have been dead for 10-11 years and occasionally cats that have died. My wife thinks I'm weird for some reason. Kent, analysis please.
Darrell that is tough to deal with after 16 years, when it comes to dog friends it is truly an awful beautiful life.
Thanks fellas, I appreciate the kind thoughts. Scooter and I had a special bond, a once in a lifetime friendship so-to-say. When the kiddies come over on holidays, and Scooter was a bit nervous, she would seek me out specifically. Yeah she lived at home with mom and dad while I lived elsewhere or went to college, yet she would come up to me and rear up on my leg meaning for me to pick her up so she would tower above the kids running around! I would sit down in the recliner and she would find a slot in the same chair. When I walked her outside on the farm, I didn't need a leash nor a collar. She would walk offset to me but a step back from me and never miss a stride. When I stopped, so did she. I never forced her to stay still, obey, or any of that doggy school nonsense. It came natural. Truly mans best friend and I dearly miss her.
