Smoke Away

Perry,

I don't mind if a business wants to do that on their own hook. What I DESPISE are government putting its nose in where it doesn't belong. I used to live in a town that passed one of the currently fashionable ordinances (No smoking in any business, including bars, in town). As soon as I found out about that ordinance I refused to do business with any business in that town and as soon as I could after my lease was up I moved to another town. As I said I DESPISE that type of government.

> Trying to save ourselves from ourselves will never work and business will suffer. This isn't even about regulation, it's about the gov sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong.

I agree.

Well, they both got mad at first and my mother said a few "choice" words to me, but then they both started laughing themselves and at each other so all was ok...that time. The next time we did it to my uncle Buddy (who was already a hot headed Italian) and OMG he lost his marbles and started throwing the chairs around, cussing every word in the book, screaming, yelling, etc... We decided to stop after that. 😐

Rick: First off, Congrats!! That is a GIANT accomplishment and a beneficial one too!! Your lungs will thank you. :hi5: :good:

I don't actually have that ashtray. If I did I'd probably use it as a spare change holder. I just got the pic in email and it got me thinking about what an oxymoron it was, and, seeing how bad of a smoker my mom is and aunts, uncles, grandparents, and other assorted dead relatives were, I know that type of thing would just piss them off more than work to get them to quit. Same as those pics on the cigarette packs, the warnings, etc... none of that is going to scare or stop them. I have dead relatives to prove it.

Like my mom said today, "none of that S*** phases me...I ain't quittin' it's an addiction and I enjoy it and I'm not hurtin' no one by my smoking. Go after the drug addicts and drunks!" Oh I SO wanted to remind her that she just got out of ICU because of pneumonia and of her drunk driving brother but I shut my mouth because it would do no good anyhow. It's like talking to a brick wall, and she is right; it's her choice. Just sad for us on the "other side" that get to watch someone we love slowly suffer and die from it all. :-/
